exploring the concept of communication in a closed system

Originally conceived as a water based artwork for an Australian Light Festival, Omniscient takes the form of a cellular, honeycombed array of discs.

Initially acting as a single entity, the piece is holistically influenced. Colour, intensity and animation is applied across the whole canvas.

Gradually, each cell 'learns' it's independent of the grid. In-turn this creates disruption amongst the all-knowing entity.

Single cells have the ability and power to influence surrounding discs.

Does one entity have the ability to influence the entire network?

Will division and disruption result in entropy?
